What is couch surfing you ask? =)
It's pretty much the most amazing thing ever...
What you do is you register on the Web site, CouchSurfing.com, and you can view the profiles of people all over the world who are willing to host you in their country!
People who register can specify if they have space in their home available for you to stay overnight, or if they just want to grab coffee with someone who is passing through. So, even if you can't host anyone on your couch, then you can still register and meet people from across the world.
Then, if you are planning on traveling, you sign on and can search for people that live in the area you will be visiting and would be willing to let you crash at their place. Then you send them an e-mail telling them the dates you will be there, and ask them if they can host you.
So, my co-traveler Leslie and I registered and started searching. We already have places to stay in London and Paris through friends, but we are planning to "couch surf" through Germany and the Czech, and maybe even in Italy.
We have a couch to sleep on in Dresden already!
It's really something you should check out if you're traveling, or even if you just want to meet people coming through Arizona.
